Dubai is one of the most popular cities in the Middle East.
It is the largest and most heavily populated city in the UAE and has been crowned the No. 1 global destination in the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards for a second successive year.
Now, travelers are returning to Dubai in record numbers.
The latest data from Dubai Airport show that there has been a 49% increase in passenger traffic during the first half of the year.
2 million of those passengers came from the U.S.
As a result, Dubai Airport has adjusted its forecast for the remainder of the year from 83.5 million passengers to 85 million passengers.
The Chief Exec of the airport said that “We’re preparing for an exceptionally busy rest of the year.”
Here’s why travelers are visiting this Middle Eastern city in record numbers this year:
Dubai has invested billions of dollars in developing the world’s best tourism infrastructure.
Some of the most famous attractions in the city include the 11 Michelin-starred restaurants, the huge Dubai Mall, and impressive modern buildings such as the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab.
New attractions continue to open on a monthly basis and 2023 has been a particularly busy year for openings, acting as a significant incentive for tourists.
New museums, shopping malls, and entertainment destinations have all opened their doors in the last 6 months.
At the beginning of the summer a new public beach called Dubai Islands Beach was opened.
This beach offers incredible views of the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah, and new restaurants, water sports, and other attractions continue to open along the beachfront.
Easy To Access
Visiting Dubai is incredibly easy, with Dubai airport acting as a hub for other Middle and Far Eastern destinations.
American visitors can fly non-stop to Dubai from New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C, Chicago, and San Francisco. There are 14 direct flights a day from New York to Dubai right now.
This makes Dubai a great destination for tourists hoping to visit the Middle East for the first time or for travelers hoping to spend more time in their destination and less time in the airport.
Now Is The Right Time To Visit
It should come as no surprise that Dubai Airport is preparing for the rest of 2023 to be busy.
November to February is considered the best time to visit Dubai when the temperatures are pleasant so you can enjoy all the adventurous outdoor activities the city has to offer.

For this reason the Dubai Tourist Board is expecting a record-breaking end to the year.
Summer in Dubai gets a bad rep because of its extreme temperatures but that clearly hasn’t put visitors off this year.
The best time to visit Dubai this year? Pick fall.
Crowd levels will be lower than in the most popular winter months but the temperatures are much more manageable than in the summer months.
Soak up the sun and beat the crowds by visiting Dubai between September and November.
If you look for 5-star opulence when you go on vacation, then there are very few places better than Dubai.
Perhaps the most famous hotel in Dubai is Atlantis The Palm, a popular 5-star resort hotel.
Earlier this year a new Atlantis resort called The Royal was opened. This has been designed to be even bigger and better than The Palm.
There are currently a whopping 151 5-Star hotels in Dubai. Just 5 years ago there were only 113 5-star hotels, with scores of new options opening every year.
A Unique Destination
Dubai is a modern city. Just 50 years ago it was nothing more than a small town. Now it has one of the most impressive and iconic timelines in the world.
Dubai offers a unique mix of ultra-modern city with authentic Arabian culture. For that reason there is nowhere quite like Dubai.
The atmosphere is high energy, and the experiences are other-worldly. And the more tourists there are in the city the more bustling and exciting it feels.
This is why the current influx of tourists is having such a positive impact on Dubai.
