He skytrax The 2023 World Airline Awards took place at the Paris Air Show this week; Known as the « Oscars of Aviation, » the iconic event presents awards to industry leaders from around the world.
This year’s top honor of World’s Best Airline went to Singapore Airlines, which edged out previous seven-time winner Qatar Airways to second place.

Since its inception in 1999, the World Airline Awards have recognized the best airlines in categories such as: Airline of the Year, Cabin Crew, Most Improved, First Class, Best Low-Cost Airline and more.
While all awards are considered the industry’s top honor, all eyes are on the most coveted category of World’s Best Airline.
Before we get to the world’s top 10, a quick look at where the US stands. Airlines placed:
- Delta Airlines earned the highest ranking for a US airline at 20th, a small step up from 24th last year
- United came in 49th (up from 60th last year)
- Alaska Airlines #52 (up from 59 last year)
- JetBlue #55 (retired from #41 last year)
- Sun Country ranks 59th (a big jump from 2022’s 114th place)
- Southwest drops to No. #60 (dropped from #35)
- American Airlines #82 (retired from #68)
- Hawaiian Airlines is at 85th, a pretty big drop from 65th last year.
- Breeze Airways just broke into the top 100 at number 97, which is a move up from number 115 last year.
According to Skytrax, the top 10 airlines in the world for 2023 are:
1. Singapore Airlines
This marks the fifth time Singapore Airlines has won the top spot in the awards, just one month after AirlineRatings.com, a leader in aviation safety and product ratings, also ranked the airline fifth in the world.
Singapore is favored for its first-class cabin product, not to mention that its main airport is also continually ranked as one of the best in the world.

2. Qatar Airways
After previously winning the top title for seven years, this was the year that Qatar Airways finally moved up to number two.
Qatar wins top honors for its business class product, including its business class lounge at Hamad International Airport.

3.ANA All Nippon Airways
In addition to ranking third on the list of the world’s best airlines, Japan’s second-largest airline also won for the world’s best airport services and was honored as the world’s cleanest airline.

4. Emirates
Dubai-based Emirates came in fourth, a small drop from its third-place finish at the awards last year. No stranger to being ranked in the top 10 of the world’s best airlines, Emirates also scores points with passengers for its popular stopover program in Dubai.

5. Japan Airlines
Jumping up one spot from number 6 last year is one of Japan’s flag carriers, which has major hubs in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Okinawa.
Japan Airlines connects the country with almost 80 destinations around the world.

6. Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines not only ranked high on this list, but also earned the coveted title of Best Airline in Europe.
Turkish Airlines also benefits from an impressive layover option and greater access to its airports in Istanbul.

7. Air France
Air France not only rose from its rank of number 8 last year, but also won awards for Best Western Europe Airline, as well as Best Airline Lounge Catering First Class, Best Inflight Catering First Class and Best First Class Airport. Lounge.

8. Cathay Pacific
Rising up the list from its 16th spot in 2022 is Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways. A founding member of One World Alliance, Hong Kong’s flagship airline is known for its award-winning products and quality lounges.

9. Air Eve
Another airline with a big leap in the right direction is Taiwan’s EVA Air, climbing the charts from its 18th spot in 2022.
Taipei-based EVA Air is known for its brightly colored fleet, most of which sports SANRIO characters, including a full Hello Kitty Jet.

10. Korean Air
Korean Air, a member of the SkyTeam alliance, recently received a 5-star Arline rating from Skytrax, helping boost its presence in the industry.
Korean Air is the country’s largest fleet and flag carrier, though new, smaller airlines are popping up across the country.
