Based on the Air Travel Consumer Report Published by the US Department of Transportation, these five airlines rank highest in the US based on on-time arrivals and baggage allowances, hence reliable services.
delta airlines
Delta Air Lines’ entire network ranks first for the highest percentage of on-time arrivals, with 81.8% of its 147 airports rarely leaving their passengers in the dust.
The airline’s branded codeshare partners contribute greatly to its remarkable performance, earning an outstanding on-time rate of 85.6%, further cementing Delta Air Lines as the number one choice.
In addition, US passengers traveling domestically may bring one standard 50 lb (23 kg) checked bag on each leg of their trip for a fee of $30 and an additional one of the same size for $40 if desired. Passengers traveling light may bring one suitcase and one small personal item free of charge.
What makes this airline stand out the most is that it allows passengers to bring one carry-on bag, one additional item free of charge, and free Wi-Fi.
Alaska Airlines
In second place is the Alaska Airlines Network, with an overall on-time arrival confidence rate at 87 airports of 77.3%.
In particular, Alaska Airlines’ branded codeshare partners maintain an exceptional on-time arrival rate of 86.7%, propelling the airline to greater heights and further demonstrating its commitment to reliability, making it an enticing option for those with a passion for travel.
Like Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines also charges $30 for the first 50lb checked bag and $40 for an additional one for those traveling domestically. However, the third bag that weighs the same amount costs $100 to bring on board. Baggage for international flights varies in price.

In third place is American Airlines, with a vast network of 122 airports that ensures that 72.9% of its airlines arrive as promised. The airline’s branded codeshare partners contribute to its overall performance, maintaining reliability as they have on-time arrival rates of 81.9%.
Also, since last month, this airline also charges $30 for a 50-pound checked bag and $40 for an extra for domestic flights only. However, those traveling to Europe and the Middle East will have to pay the price of $75 for one bag, and the second will cost $100.
united airlines
United Airlines reaches the fourth position, with the 104 airports flying gracefully and landing 75.3% of their flights. The operator’s codeshare partners promote this statistic, facilitating a timely landing performance of 77.4%.
Carry-on luggage, as well as other personal items, including laptop bags, jackets, umbrellas, books, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, car seats, and photographic equipment, are free. Similarly, domestic flights for economy passengers must pay $35 for a 50lb checked bag and $45 for a second.
Lucky travelers who have earned enough status are eligible to take up to three 70lb checked bags when traveling to most countries at no cost, making the airline a great choice for those who travel in style with a lot of luggage.
Note: Passengers traveling to San Salvador, Havana, Santo Domingo, Managua, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa and Guatemala City can only take two 70-pound checked bags without paying fees.
southwest airlines
Southwest Airlines rounds out the list, famous for its affordable trade shows and dependable customer service. Serving 107 airports promptly 73.4% of the time, delivering frequently pleasant travel experiences.
Even though the fare is slightly lower than the airlines mentioned above, the airline differentiates itself from the previous four airlines by offering generous baggage allowances. Customers traveling elsewhere in the US may bring two 50-pound checked bags free of charge, including golf bags and skis. Those who want an extra bag or more on board must shell out an additional $75 per piece.
